Hi John

This is a good question. Currently IVIg is not FDA-approved for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. There was a study published a few years back that was "negative" but showed a possible signal of having a mild degree of effect in a certain subset of patients, those who were carriers of the APOE4 gene.

Overall, most physicians do not advocate for the use of IVIg due to the limited evidence and high cost, as well as some chance for side effects. Further studies would need to be done to help clarify if IVIg works in specific subgroups and to better answer your question.

For more information, read about the study done at Weill Cornell Medicine / NewYork-Presbyterian a few years ago, [weill.cornell.edu] and be sure to discuss any and all treatment options and seek approval and discussion of risks/benefits for all therapies with a qualified medical professional.
